Hospital Policies

.Appointment Policy

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time.

For your convenience, drop off appointments are available. A drop off means you could bring your pet at the time that works best for you and leave him/her with us for a short time. Usually we will ask you to drop off sometime in the morning so our doctors can examine the patient in between appointments or at the time purposely reserved for admitted patients. Once done, the doctor will give you a call to go over the diagnosis and to give you discharge instructions.

In an effort to provide quality care to our patients, we must utilize our time efficiently. When a patient makes an appointment, time is set aside for their needs, and work is performed to prepare their record for the visit. When a scheduled visit is not completed, there is a loss for another patient who could have used that available time, as well as wasted staff time. This is especially problematic when multiple appointments for pets in the same household are scheduled and missed. Therefore, we ask that when a scheduled visit cannot be met, it be cancelled at least twenty-four hours prior to the time of the appointment.  For late cancellations or not showing for a scheduled appointment, we reserve the right to access a $25 fee per appointment

Payment Policy

1. Payment is expected when services are rendered. In order to focus on our patients' needs, customer service and minimizing costs, we do not bill.

2. We accept debit cards, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express) checks and cash. All cards must be signed by the owner of the card.

3. When unexpected illness strikes a pet, unexpected expense strikes as well.  Cazenovia Animal Hospital understands this and is able to make some special arrangements through the CareCredit program. It takes just 5 minutes to complete an application and will allow you to break down your payment into monthly installments.  You can apply by phone at

Patient Arrival Policy

For your protection, and that of others, we request that all dogs be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms.

For cats we request an appropriate carrier or leash.

For your convenience, there is a handicap accessible entry at the side of the hospital. You can park right there.  If you need assistance in bringing your pet into the hospital, let us know when you make your appointment.  We know heavy cat carriers and rambunctious dogs can be a challenge so we are more than happy to lend a hand.
